Date Night: Spruce it Up

file0001432978570

It can be really challenging to come up with fun date night activities. Once you’ve worn out the typical options like a nice dinner or a trip to the theatre, it can be hard to spice up the time you spend together. I’ve had this issue come up in my past relationships as well. It can be hard to get those creative juices flowing sometimes. One of the ways I’ve overcame this obstacle was by creating a date night jar with my significant other. We would write fun and exciting ideas on scraps of paper, crumple them up, and throw them inside. When a time came where we couldn’t decide on what to do, we would reach into the jar and pull out one of our date night ideas. I would highly recommend making one of your own. And, to help you get started, here’s a list of some of my favorite date activities!

1. Antiquing

You really never know what treasures you might find at one of these shops. Whether you’re there to buy or just to look around, you’re sure to have a good time.

2. Pick-Up Truck Picnic or Stargazing

Maybe you’re just looking to have a short lunch or a long night away from the house, either way, the change of scenery is sure to make your time together special. My favorite time for this activity is close to sunset.  Drive over to a romantic location such as a park, beach, lake, etc. and put that truck in park. You can spend the evening sipping on wine while you watch the sun go down until its dark enough to just lay back and watch the stars. For extra comfort, make sure to bring a few blankets and pillows. Also, feel free to play a little music to enhance the experience. (No pick-up truck? No problem! Do everything the same minus the truck.)

3. Conversation Jenga

This is a great get-to-know-you-better game. Buy a Jenga set from a local store and write questions on each block. You must answer every block that you pull out.

4. Disney Scene It

Are you feeling a little competitive? Disney Scene It (or any Scene It Game) can be a great way to add the edge to a date night.

5. Geocaching

I would highly recommend saving this activity for a good weather day. Geocaching is a great way to stay active and build a hobby together. What is geocaching, you ask? Click here to find out.

6. Couples Game Night

Some times it’s great to bond with other couples too. Charades, Catch Phrase, and Attack Uno are all great games to consider for this event.

7. Build a Blanket Fort

Psh! The theatre is so overrated. Wouldn’t you rather cuddle up in a homemade blanket fort for a nice movie instead?

8. Thunderstorm Cuddling

Bring a few blankets out on the porch. You can snuggle together while listening to the rain. Feel free to add a bottle of wine for extra fun.

9. Spontaneous Road Trip

Road trips are one of my most favorite activities! You don’t even need a destination. Some times just driving some place you’ve never been can be exhilarating. Relax, enjoy the radio, and sight-see! You never know where you’ll end up.

10. Spend the Day in Bed

The rule is NO GETTING UP!!! You may get up for the occasional snack or bathroom breaks, but that is all. Put on your most comfortable PJs, fluff your pillows, and get ready for a whole lot of relaxation.
